Centegra Hospital Huntley Laboratory Passes Initial CAP Inspection

It is with great pleasure that we announce the successful completion of the Laboratory CAP (College of American Pathologist) inspection at Centegra Hospital Huntley.  We were surveyed Monday May 1, 2017 by 8 Inspectors from various hospitals in the Midwest as well as three College of American Pathologist inspectors.

Our Laboratory successfully met the Laboratory Accreditation Program standards in all areas.  Some corrections or additions of procedures and/or policies are required and will be fulfilled within the next 30 days.  This Accreditation also meets requirements for the Joint Commission and CMS.

The surveyors were very impressed with the quality of the laboratory and the helpfulness of the leaders and the staff.  Their comments were that the laboratory provided high quality care to our patients and was very well organized.  The inspectors stated that this was the best initial inspection they participated in.

The positive outcome of the survey is directly attributed to the daily dedication to quality demonstrated by the Associates of the laboratory.  The Laboratory Leadership and Associates are congratulated on this success!

Centegra receives T systems client excellence award

Dan Campagna, MD, Director of Emergency Services announced that Centegra has been chosen by T-System as the recipient of its Client Excellence Award for 2015. On Feb. 23, T-System’s CEO and top executives will present the award along with a donation to the Centegra Health System Foundation.

Mission Lifeline

We are very pleased to announce that Centegra Hospital-Woodstock has received the Mission: Lifeline Referring Center – Bronze Level Recognition Award and Centegra Hospital McHenry has received the Mission: Lifeline Receiving Center – Gold – Plus Level Recognition Award. These awards are granted to hospitals that successfully implement specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program’s goal is to reduce system barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 911 call and continuing through hospital care.

Centegra Health System is dedicated to improving the quality of care for our patients who suffer heart attacks, and the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program is helping us to accomplish that goal through the use of nationally recognized clinical guidelines.

We are very pleased to be recognized for our dedication and achievements in cardiac care, and are very proud of all our team members that make this possible. Congratulations to the Doctors and Associates whose work has earned this achievement.

Physician Excellence in Teamwork Award

CH-M Cardiac Surgery Receives Top Rating from STS

We are very proud to share the news that Centegra Hospital-McHenry has received the highest three-star rating for cardiac surgery quality from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). Approximately 10 percent of hospitals nationwide receive the three-star rating, which denotes the highest category of quality.

The STS three-star rating system is the gold standard for cardiac surgery quality ratings and is highly regarded as the best way to compare cardiac surgery programs. The system is based on cardiac teams’ performance in terms of survival rates, the absence of complications and other key measures. By receiving three stars, our cardiac surgery program has been placed among the best programs in the nation.

Centegra Health System partners with physicians from Cardiac Surgery Associates, S.C., to provide patients a complete range of heart surgeries. This partnership has brought advanced cardiac care to McHenry County to ensure community members can receive the best care close to home.

Congratulations to our cardiac surgery team and to every Associate and Physician who provides outstanding clinical care to patients with heart disease. Our patients have the privilege of receiving compassionate, sophisticated treatment close to their homes. Centegra earns Magnet designation for nursing excellence

It is with tremendous pride that we announce that Centegra Health System has achieved Magnet designation as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. This hospital recognition program is considered the highest honor an organization can receive for nursing care and professional nursing practice.

Centegra Health System is just the second health system in Illinois to earn this prestigious recognition. This means our patients will receive the same level of excellent nursing care at every Centegra hospital. Fewer than 400 hospitals worldwide have this status and Centegra is just the second health system in Illinois to receive this designation.

Nurses, Associates and leaders from throughout Centegra gathered at our hospitals this morning to listen to a conference call with the ANCC. During this call Centegra Health System’s nurses were praised for their dedication to advancing their profession. The enthusiasm of our nurses, their pride and the organization’s outstanding support of nurses were all praised during the call. Perhaps the best part about our journey was that our joyful spirits were evident every step of the way. We have been on the Journey to Magnet Excellence for four years. Our efforts have resulted in better patient care and a more engaged nursing workforce. This journey would not have been successful without the efforts of the nurses, Associates and Physicians who contributed their time and talents.

Centegra Receives Leapfrog “A” status

It is with great pleasure that we announce Centegra Hospital-McHenry and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock each received an “A” in the Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score.

What is Leapfrog?

Leapfrog is a consortium of large employers such as Boeing, CBS, FedEx, GM, UPS, Transamerica, Verizon along with organizations of purchasers and several agencies promoting health care. (See full list) The initial focus of the group was to promote patient safety by reducing medical mistakes. The founders felt that they could take “leaps” forward in healthcare of their employees by rewarding those hospitals that implement proven measures to ensure patient safety and quality. Leapfrog consortium currently covers over 37 million Americans in all 50 states. Of the 2,539 hospitals that participated in the survey, 813 hospitals received an “A,” which denotes the best hospital safety performance. The grade reflects a hospital’s efforts and outcomes in preventing errors, infections, injuries, and medication mix-ups.

This recognition affirms our commitment to a culture of safety and the highest quality of care for our patients and their families.

Centegra Nursing Magnet Application Accepted

On July 11th Centegra Nursing received notice that their 2013 Magnet designation application document was accepted.

The application shares how the system provides nursing care for our patients, our community and each other. It It describes the processes we use to make decisions and allocate resources. Most importantly, it provides insight into Centegra’s unique culture of compassionate caring and reflects how we truly aim to serve with joyful spirits. This Magnet document reflects the richness and depth of Nursing at Centegra

The next step in our journey to Magnet designation will be a site visit by Magnet surveyors. We expect the visit to take place in October and to last less than one week. During the visit, surveyors will witness first-hand Centegra’s culture and how our dedicated Nurses incorporate evidence-based practices into the care we provide every day. They will be thoroughly examining our interdisciplinary approach to care while visiting multiple sites, so every Associate will play an important role.

Thank you to everyone who has helped lead Centegra down our journey to Magnet designation so far. The upcoming site visit is an important component of our Magnet application and is our chance to shine! We look forward to your continued support.
