Be prepared for Lyme disease

As the weather warms up the nymph form of the deer tick becomes active. It is the vector for Lyme disease. Look at this link for preventive strategies.
Remember

  • Use DEET on skin and Permethrin on clothing to reduce the risk of ticks.
  • it is the nymph form of the deer tick that transmits Lyme disease
  • The tick must feed for more than 48 hours to transmit. Daily tick checks prevent disease
  • non engorged, non attached ticks do not need treatment
